Both Apple and Android’s Google Play Stores offer a range of apps that are great for no matter where you live in the world. Everything to make doing tasks in the modern day easier, faster and funner! With this list, we start out with the aps that are available across both platforms and then break off and show you what is only available for Apple and only available for Android.
Perth Airport App
If you have ever been to Perth Airport, you will know that arrivals times can vary wildly, and thanks to the new parking and stopping rules, there is little room for error! You don’t want to be caught out waiting for a delayed flight, or to miss picking up your loved one at the correct gate. Checkout what time flights are coming and going at Perth Airport with their own app, and get a sense for arrival times by checking on the live tracking on flights inbound. This App also tells you gate numbers, parking availability and costs, and gives you exclusive offers for food and shopping when you are waiting to fly or are arriving!

Parkopedia Parking and CPP City of Perth Parking Apps
Parkopedia uses known parking areas to help you find parking and to compare prices. This nifty App has a built-in map that also helps you find the parking spot of your dreams! The great thing is, this app can also be used anywhere in the world – but we find it really works well in Perth because paying for parking here is just un-West-Australian!

The City of Perth parking app works well in conjunction with Parkopedia, by telling you what parking spaces are actually available, when your parking is due to expire and even the actual location of your parking spot!
This is the App of the website of the same name – Perth’s leading resource for families looking for things to do and people to meet who are also parents! It has the most comprehensive listings of events, functions, attractions, and places to visit with kids, and even gives you directions to get you there! It’s handy inbuilt functions mean that you can research, plan, book, and share your playdate ideas!

WA Emergency Waiting Times (WAED)
WA Health long ago realised that it sometimes makes more sense to drive further, beyond your own local hospital, to avoid long Emergency Department (ED) waits. To help you decide to make the drive or to attend your local hospital, check out this app! It gives approximate wait times based on the current triaged patients and the workload of the department at the time, and works out how long your drive is also!

HealthEngine is a booking App to help you find and make appointments for GP Drs, dentists, doctors, and chiropractors. You can book at any time using their options for looking up doctors directly, or simply getting the next available appointment. You can set reminders for appointments, get directions, and even see reviews for practices. A fantastic feature is the ability to book after-hours, home visiting doctors services for those nights where you have a sick family member and dragging them out of home will just make matters that much worse!

Apple Store Only
Should iRun Perth
This transport app allows you to know when the next train is coming, without you having to have internet access! Unlike the actual Transperth App, it won’t drain your data by constantly updating via mobile data, and It also won’t drain your battery either as it doesn’t rely on having your GPS switched on at all times!
This is Apple’s version of Android’s highly popular Bowser Watch app. It uses the same data which WA uses to help monitor changing fuel prices. With this app you can find all the prices of fuel in your location via the map function, which is super handy when you are new to Perth and don’t yet know the layout of suburbs!
Trails WA and City of Perth iWalk Trails
TrailsWA gives you a listing and review of all the major walking trails in WA that you can visit. It gives listings of length, difficulty, and average times it will take you to complete them. A great app to help you plan a weekend or afternoon adventure!
The City of Perth iWalk Trails ap is similar, but it’s focus is on taking you past and through Perth’s greatest landmarks and weaves Perth’s history through them at the same time! It contains an augmented reality, like what the cool kids were using in the Pokemon GO! App. This allows you to jump right into WA’s history!
Android Store Only
This ap is designed to help you plan your way through all the public transport systems available in Perth, all without having to use your mobile data on the go to do it! This ap is designed by people who actually use public transport, so it has lots of nifty features like being able to find stops near your location, the ability to set alarms to let you know when you service is departing, and it supports service transfers, so you don’t have to wonder what links are available for you when you step off one service and onto another!
Bowser Watch WA
This is similar to the FuelView App on Apple, but with this app you can make a list of the suburbs that you regularly pass through on your commute, so that if you are after the cheapest fuel on your route, you can find it! This ap also draws on the data which is created by FuelWatch and the Department of Commerce WA.
City of Perth iWalk Trails
The City of Perth iWalk Trails ap takes you into the past, and through Perth’s greatest landmarks, weaving Perth’s history through them at the same time! It contains an augmented reality, like what the cool kids were using in the Pokemon GO! Ap. This allows you to jump right into WA’s history!
Although it might seem straightforward that you would use the free Google Maps app that comes pre-loaded on your Android phone, you might not be aware of the extra things we have available to us here in Perth when we use it! Google Maps automatically updates the traffic status of congestion on your route by using data from other users, as well as syncing with Main Roads. This allows you to avoid un-expected congestion and seek alternative routes!
Perth is also one of the cities in Australia that has lots of Google Street view! Whether you are visiting a house for the first time or you are seeking one out, you can Google-stalk it first and work out what it really looks like by using the Google Streetview function. By using the directions function in Google Maps, you can also quickly calculate route times based on real data, not just calculated distances!
With all that information at the end of your fingertips, and so much of it made especially for Perth, what are you going to do first!?
